Overview
KHYTHM builds local aggregate keyboard statistics after you explicitly grant macOS Input Monitoring permission. It is a listen-only utility: it does not inject, block, modify, replay, or control input.
What KHYTHM stores
The app stores the minimum aggregate information needed to build its dashboard.
- Total key counts, active minutes, trends, and typing sessions.
- Safe physical key-position aggregates used for keyboard heatmaps.
- Shortcut summaries and app-level aggregate display names when enabled.
- Optional per-keyboard aggregate groups and safe display names derived from the Manufacturer and Product information reported to macOS. KHYTHM does not store serial numbers or hardware identifiers.
- Local settings such as appearance, history duration, and ignore rules.
What KHYTHM never records
- Typed text, passwords, or document content.
- Screenshots, screen content, or window contents.
- URLs, file paths, clipboard content, or process identifiers.
- Apple ID, payment details, receipts, or transaction identifiers in app data.
Input Monitoring permission
macOS requires Input Monitoring so KHYTHM can observe keyboard events and build local aggregate statistics. KHYTHM starts only after permission is granted. You can revoke access at any time in System Settings.
Local data and your controls
- Statistics stay on your Mac by default.
- Exports and backups are created only after you click their controls.
- Diagnostic email opens as an editable draft and is never sent automatically.
- Only attachments you actively choose in the external Tally support form are sent to Tally and stored with the submitted request.
- You can reset local statistics and delete diagnostic data.
- PRO users can optionally protect the local statistics file with Keychain-backed AES-GCM encryption.
Public website analytics
The public KHYTHM website may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure aggregate visits, referring sites, device categories, countries or regions, page paths, and page performance. Cloudflare states that this service does not use cookies or local storage to identify visitors and does not collect or use visitors' personal data for Web Analytics. This measurement is separate from the KHYTHM app: no keyboard statistics, typed text, screenshots, diagnostics, or local app files are sent to Cloudflare Web Analytics. Cloudflare processes website measurements under its own privacy policy.
